Ouverture - bad Tape audio and only one channel after belt replacement

Hello! I've just replaced the tape deck belt and was excited to play cassettes again! Unfortunately only left channel forks as of now. Wiggling the tape doesn't make it come back so it doesn't seem like an alignment issue. I remember it working well when I got this system a few years ago, but the belt broke down and deck stopped working. The other thing is, that after playing 15 mins of Whitney Houston, played audio kinda fizzled down, got quieter and less detailed, like playing through plastic foil or something. I couldn't find many topics beside belt replacements, does anyone know what may be the issue? Old capacitors? Worn out chip? What should I diagnose and replace?

Hi Yes, capacitors are a problem at a moment or another. But before, maybe you should carrefully check connections and the cable with all the tapehead wires. I assume you have correctly clean all the contact parts and you tried with different cassettes, right? Good luck.

Thanks for the info, yes, I've cleaned the head with isopropyl and tried a few cassettes. The problem persists. When I'll be changing the door belt, I'll check again all the connections and will have a look at the wires coming from the head to see if any of them is broken, I don't remember having any connectors there, and the whole tape deck is soldered to the control board. What brand of capacitors would you recommend to replace the original ones with? Do you think there's a point in replacing caps in Beolab 2500 at this point (they work fine)? I ordered foam replacements from https://www.dksoundparts.com/.
