BeoSound 5 no network connection

Hi, I have a BeoSound 5 / Beomaster 5 and listen often to the internet radio. I sometimes had issues that certain radio channels were not working, so I changed to another station, as there are many available. But now I have seen that the latest n.radio update is from 2020-06-02 and that the system reads in the Settings/Network Info "Network connection : No". This is strange, as I listen to n.radio at that same time and there must be a connection, otherwise I could not listen to live radio, I suppose. The BeoMaster is linked via an ethernet cable and I can access it through the home LAN from the pc. Does anyone have any suggestion as to how to get that network connection up again, so that the n.radio update can occur, as I suppose there must be a more recent one than the one from 2020? Or any other ideas? Thank you
Unfortunately I don’t. It’s a long time since I played with one. They are problematic machines because of the way Windows SE is the core program with a B&O wrapper over the top. As I’ve stated, if you get into maintenance mode and get into Windows (you will need a usb mouse and keyboard), you will see network settings combining in ot not from your home network. Part of the factory reboot is to help reset those connections in terms of the B&O wrapper and accredited B&O account. it’s something I have muscle memory on……..but it is very difficult to guide you through to success via a web forum.
Just an add on. Does anyone in Beoworld know if the BS5/BM5 used vTuner as it’s web radio module? if so, v.Tuner has been down for a couple of days now (Auralic board has raised a concern). This may be why the radio has stopped?
I did indeed get a new router (fritzbox 6660 cable). That could be it. I'll try to find anything around there. Does anyone have the URL where the radio stations get downloaded from? (The connectivity is there, as I can listen to some stations and I access the BM5 through the LAN without a problem). (Not sure I need this) Does anyone know the port that the BM5 needs and whether it is http or https?
IIRC, The BS5 downloads radio stations from B&O itself. I think it uses BeoConnect and your B&O account. You cannot load up your own URLs. Make sure you are logged into your B&O account. If you are connected to the Network and can "see" inside the BS/BM5 from your PC, the info slider should tell you that you are connected. If not, it may be that there is a bug (reboot) and ensure your are logged into your account. Again, historically, when I had similar messings-about with the BS5 ,a factory reset usually pot things right.
Could anyone with a BS5/BM5 let me know, which port you attribute in your router and whether it is http or https? I don't recall what I had on the old router but vaguely remember that there was something... (Thanks Stan, you probably have led me onto the right track)
I did change the router, but only in 2021. The n.radio list is stale from 2020, so there must be something else (but I think my new router needed to allow the exception for the BS5/BM5 anyhow. That is done now, with independent port sharing enabled for the BS5/BM5.) I still have no connection in the service menu (except for listening to the radio with the existing radio stations) but I see that the BS5 receives and transmits data. I tried with no firewall on the BS5 and rebooted. but still no connection. So firewall is back on again.
---SOLVED--- got some advice from B&O customer support: clear the databases from the maintenance menu, if no cd ripper is installed. Which I did, as I do not have any ripper attached. Rebooted and it took a some 15 minutes and the new n.radio database was downloaded, shows as such in the Product Info and all works fine. (If there is a cd ripper installed, you need to manually delete the n.radio database out from the service menu ( E:\cache\data\nradio.db) and that triggers a download of the latest database.) Of course, this only works if you have connection to the internet and you need to make sure that the connectivity is established.
Long time since I was tinkering with a BS5. If you can ascertain the BM5 is connected to the network that would be good. Next, try rebooting Next, try service menu with a mouse and keyboard and tinker around the network settings in windows SE. Next, try a factory reset. Ultimately, it may just be that B&O have killed that server and because the BS5 can’t get authorisation……..it simply clears the radio list.
Hi Alan, hi Mr10Percent, I just checked my (recently acquired) BS5/BM5 and it also says 'no' at network connection (where I can acces it through my LAN for sure), and my 'last n.radio update' is 2023-06-07 which is today. Do you think you can update the software? My 'BS5/BM5 application' states 7.04.01.1945. Regards, Johan.
