I collected a Beovision 11-46 today bought from eBay. The seller demoed it briefly before I picked it up and it was working, including the motorised floor stand.
I got it home and set it up, but the plug for the motorised floor stand seemed to be a poor fit and when I plugged it in, it did not work, and there was no 'Stand' item in the TV menu.
I looked at the socket for the stand on the back and it did look at thought the pins were not in the right position - maybe I had bent them when I first tried to connect it. I was looking at those pins on that back, when to my horror there was a pop, a crackling sound, and smoke came out of the back of the TV (from the right side of the TV, if looking at it from the front). It was quite a lot of smoke and quite smelly.
I was therefore surprised that the TV still worked! I switched it on again to an HDMI source, the picture and sound were both fine (there's no aerial connected so I can't test the tuner). I did manage to get the stand plug in properly and it clicked into place as I expect it should, but the stand is still not working. I wonder if pop, crackle and smoke was something to do with that?
If anyone has any clues as to what the cause might have been, and/or how to get the stand working, I'd be grateful. I notice that two of the four pins for the stand socket sit deeper inside than the other two - is that normal, or have I pushed them down by mistake when I first tried to connect it?
